Celebrating Community Impact: A Recap of Our Successful 3rd Annual David Fletcher Charity Poker Tournament
At Summer Harvest – Food 4 Kids, we're still buzzing with excitement after the incredible success of our 3rd Annual David Fletcher Charity Poker Tournament held this past January. With the unwavering support of major league baseball player David Fletcher and our generous sponsors, including David Fletcher himself, Ballengee Group, Archstone Foundation, Edward Jones, Wendy Grose, Cypress Baseball, Simon Law, and O'Leary Visuals, we raised over $70,000 to support our mission.
The mission of Summer Harvest is simple yet impactful: to provide healthy, nutritious foods to families with children on the free and reduced lunch program during summer and winter recess through the distribution of food and education. And thanks to the funds raised from the poker tournament, we've been able to take significant steps toward achieving that mission.
Last summer, we hosted seven distributions of fresh produce and pantry items, reaching families in need and providing them with healthy and nutritious foods. This past year, funds raised enabled us to serve more than 950 families, including over 1,700 children and 2,600 adults in the Cypress, Los Alamitos, and Fountain Valley areas. Additionally, we distributed 500 backpacks filled with school supplies, ensuring that children in our community were prepared for the school year ahead.
We also want to extend a huge congratulations to our 2024 poker tournament winners:
1st place: Myles Tengan
2nd place: Michael Fitzhugh
3rd place: Maricel McFarland
4th place: Mike Anderson
5th place: Dawn Leavitt
To all our donors, sponsors, and volunteers, we want to say thank you – your participation and support makes all the difference.
Looking ahead, we are thrilled to announce that our 4th Annual David Fletcher Charity Poker Tournament is planned for Friday, January 24, 2025, at the Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach. We hope you'll join us as we continue our mission to make a positive impact in the lives of families and children in need.
